Quick Answer

The Bronze Gate is a locked mid-forest door in the Moonlit Forest, at the Azure Bay / Mural Valley junction opposite a bubble path over a waterfall ravine. You need both Ruins Key halves in your inventory: the quest key half from Zephyria when you start Become an Intermediate Explorer, and the elevator chest key half from a chest by the wooden elevator in the river valley below the bubbles. Drop down — guides say there is no fall damage — loot the chest near coal and a glowing blue plant, ride the elevator back up, then interact with the gate. No worktable combination is required. The door leads straight into the Glintortle boss, then toward Harvest Yard. Left/Right key labels conflict across guides; see the troubleshooting section before assuming yours is bugged.

Use the Moonlit Forest route to place this gate in the wider progression.

Prerequisites

  • Explorer profession progress: reach the point where Zephyria offers Become an Intermediate Explorer (also called the Intermediate Certification Trial). The gate will not open without this quest line.
  • Reach Azure Bay in the Moonlit Forest, then continue past the bubble path / waterfall to the Mural Valley area.
  • Recommended: unlock the Mural Valley camp before committing to the gate, so you can return without recrossing the bubbles. Bring arrows — a boss waits on the other side.

Find the Gate

Guides phrase the location differently but describe one lock, not two gates:

Guide reference table
SourceWording
IGNEast of the Mural Valley campsite, across from large bubbles
EurogamerThe massive bronze door at the end of Azure Bay; a left-hand downward path leads to Mural Valley camp
VG247Between Mural Valley and Harvest Yard
DualShockersIn Mural Valley (the sixth forest section), up the stairs from camp to an open area
Screen HypeA large locked gate after Azure Bay's bubble / waterfall crossing

The same lock also goes by The Gate Leading Forward (TechRaptor) and Bronze Door (Eurogamer); PCGamesN mixes "brass" and "bronze." These are aliases, not separate gates.

Key Half from Zephyria

Speak to Zephyria at the Exploration Club and start Become an Intermediate Explorer. Most guides — IGN, VG247, Eurogamer, DualShockers, Sportskeeda, PCGamesN — say he hands over the quest key half when you accept or start the quest.

Zephyria's location is described as the Exploration Club on the left side of town above Green Pasture Ranch (Screen Hype), northeast of Flower Corridor (Sportskeeda), or northwest of the farm (TheGamer).

Key Half from Elevator Chest

The elevator chest key half is in the river valley between Azure Bay and Mural Valley, by the wooden elevator.

  1. From the gate, walk toward the bubbles and drop down — IGN and VG247 both say there is no fall damage and you will not pass out. Alternatively, ride the elevator down from the broken stone bridge in front of Mural Valley camp (DualShockers notes it starts moving after about five seconds).
  2. At the bottom, look near the elevator base, the coal nodes, and a glowing blue plant / flowers. IGN puts the chest on the higher rock right of the elevator; VG247 puts it just past the elevator base on the western side of the river; Eurogamer says face downstream, hug the right wall, and open the locked chest on a ledge.
  3. Open the chest. Guides say it holds the key half plus other materials, but the exact extra loot is not documented consistently.
  4. Ride the elevator back to the upper path.

Open the Gate

With both halves in your inventory, return to the gate and interact with it. DualShockers' inspection text describes the Ruins Key as broken into left and right sections, with both halves needed to unlock the door — no worktable step is required, and no walkthrough treats crafting as the intended path.

Guides also split on wording: titles say repair, while body text says unlock / open. It is one interaction, not two mechanics.

What Comes Next

  • Glintortle (IGN: Glinturtle) is immediately behind the gate. IGN recommends Mini Sentry Bots and plenty of arrows.
  • Guides report Water Arrow and Pristine Orb blueprints as Glintortle rewards, plus a loot chest; Eurogamer notes the fight is part of Become an Intermediate Explorer.
  • After Glintortle, Fire and/or Water Arrows are needed to clear or grow the vines into Harvest Yard, where the Waterwheel repair and the later ore tiers begin.

Left/Right Label Troubleshooting

There is no official ruling on which half is "Left" and which is "Right," and the labels may swap between versions. Three conflicting systems are in circulation:

  1. Quest = Left, chest = Right: IGN (13 Feb 2026) and Eurogamer's key page (16 Feb 2026); VG247's dialogue reading also has Zephyria holding Left.
  2. Quest = Right, chest = Left: DualShockers, TheGamer (which calls Zephyria's Right label a "minor mistranslation"), Screen Hype, Sportskeeda, and PCGamesN.
  3. First-obtained = Left: VG247's rule — whichever half you get first is labeled Left, and Zephyria sends the other half if you looted the chest first, so you cannot be soft-locked with two Left halves.

These are February 2026 early-access reports; no official page has settled the labels for 1.0.

FAQ

Where is the Bronze Gate in Starsand Island?
At the Azure Bay / Mural Valley junction in the Moonlit Forest, opposite a bubble path over a waterfall ravine. Guides phrase it differently — east of Mural Valley camp (IGN), the massive door at the end of Azure Bay (Eurogamer), between Mural Valley and Harvest Yard (VG247), up the stairs from Mural Valley camp (DualShockers) — but all describe one mid-forest lock, not two gates.
Where do I get both Ruins Key halves?
The quest key half comes from Zephyria when you start Become an Intermediate Explorer. The elevator chest key half is in a chest by the wooden elevator in the river valley between Azure Bay and Mural Valley, near coal nodes and a glowing blue plant.
Do I need to combine the key halves at a worktable?
No. DualShockers' gate inspection says the Ruins Key is broken into two sections and that having both halves in your inventory is enough to open the door. Data dumps list Worktable I recipes for the halves, but no walkthrough uses crafting as the intended path.
Is the quest key the Left half or the Right half?
Sources conflict and there is no official ruling. IGN and Eurogamer say Zephyria gives Left and the chest is Right; DualShockers, TheGamer, Screen Hype, Sportskeeda, and PCGamesN say the reverse; VG247 reports whichever half you obtain first is labeled Left. Mislabeled pairs have still opened the gate, so the labels do not block progress.
What if I looted the elevator chest before starting the quest?
That still works. VG247 and Eurogamer report the pair opens the door regardless of order, and Steam players confirm looting the chest first and later taking Zephyria's half still completes the key.
What is behind the Bronze Gate?
The Glintortle boss (IGN spells it Glinturtle), then a vine path into Harvest Yard that needs Fire and/or Water Arrows. Guides report Water Arrow and Pristine Orb blueprints as Glintortle rewards.
